MTN MARKS 10 YEARS OF SUCCESSFUL EXISTENCE

In February 2010, MTN Nigeria obtained a digital mobile licence following a globally lauded process organised by the Nigerian Communications and made their first commercial call on May 16, 2011. Now, MTN now has more than 40 million customers. They have made up to 6700 2G base stations and 1600 3G base stations. They were also the first in Africa to offer Blackberry phones for prepaid customers.

MTN has successfully achieved 10 spectacular landmarks that I would discuss shortly. In my next post, I will talk about the new tariff plans MTN introduced @ 10!

3. 1st Number-One CSR Telecoms Company
4. 1st telecom company to hold stakeholders conference
5. 1st and only telecoms to build largest switch in the world
6. 1st and only African Company to sponsor the World Cup
7. 1st to launch ePresence
8. 1st to establish service presence in all Nigerian States
9. 1st GSM company in Nigeria that is ISO 9001 certified
10. 1st to record 40 million active customers
